USDF Nomination for USEF Youth Sportsman’s AwardThe USEF Youth Sportsman’s Award was designed to develop leaders in the equine industry from all breeds and disciplines. Each year, USDF seeks nominees who demonstrate an ongoing commitment and dedication to both organizations through their promotion of the horse. Candidates should be accomplished equestrians, exhibit positive sportsmanship principles and serve as a role model for their peers. The chosen USDF nominee will be submitted to USEF for the national award.

The USDF national nominee shall receive a complementary one-year USDF youth participating membership, and shall be recognized by USEF with a certificate of honor, lapel pin, and exclusively designed hat, along with a six-day, expenses-paid career opportunity workshop at the USEF national office in Lexington, KY. Read more about the career workshop from previous winners. See USDF Guidelines for Nominee for more details.
The USDF national nominee will be submitted as a candidate to USEF for consideration as the overall Youth Sportsman's Award winner, as well as being nominated for the USEF Junior Equestrian of the Year Award. Presentation of this award will take place at the Pegasus Awards Banquet at the USEF Annual Meeting. The overall USEF Youth Sportsman's Award winner receives a trophy, a $1,000 scholarship to be paid to the educational program of their choice, and a lifetime membership to USEF, valued at $2,500. Should the USDF winner be selected as the overall USEF Youth Sportsman's Award winner, USDF will provide a complementary five-year participating membership.
Nominations should be submitted to USDF. The deadline for receipt is October 1st. For details about the criteria and application process, please contact USEF (under Youth Programs) or contact youth@usdf.org.
